Microsoft to purchase solar power from Leeward Renewables

Leeward Renewable Energy has secured two 200 MW PPAs with Microsoft Corp, one each for Morrow Lake Solar in Frio County and Cradle Solar in Brazoria County, Texas. These projects, employing First Solar’s thin-film solar modules, promise local economic benefits and job creation. Red River, a SunChase Power and Eolian joint venture, started developing Morrow Lake Solar in 2017, creating 313 construction jobs, including 112 local hires, and is set for completion by Q4 2024. Cradle Solar’s construction, anticipated to start in Q2 2024, expects to generate over 300 construction jobs and conclude by Q4 2025.
