Lebanon’s renewable energy sector suffered a significant blow during the recent conflict, despite a US-France brokered ceasefire in late November. Pierre El Khoury, Senior Energy Advisor and Secretary of Lebanon’s World Energy Council (WEC) Committee, reported a loss of 150 MW to 200 MW of solar PV capacity. Around 400,000 to 500,000 solar panels were damaged or destroyed. This setback threatens Lebanon’s renewable goals. The WEC Committee plans to bridge local rebuilding needs with international support.
