The world’s largest floating solar plant at Omkareshwar Dam, jointly managed by NHPC and the Madhya Pradesh government, has sustained severe damage during a recent storm, facing 50 kmph winds. Three plants with capacities of 100 MW in Kelwa Khurd, 88 MW in Indawadi, and 90 MW in Ekhand village are set to be established in the backwaters. While the Kelwa Khurd project is nearing completion, the Indawadi plant suffered significant damage to its solar panels. NHDC is currently assessing the damage but remains confident in restoring power production promptly. No injuries were reported among employees. Despite setbacks, NHDC officials anticipate reaching a power production capacity of 100 MW by the end of April.
