Israel-based SolarEdge Technologies, a leading smart energy company, has announced has received an early certification for its portfolio of PV inverters. The certification complies with the European Commission’s New Radio Equipment Directive (RED) Article 3.3, which focuses on cyber security. According to SolarEdge, compliance was verified by Kiwa, a prominent European certification lab. The directive, set to take effect in August 2025, mandates new security measures for all IoT products using wireless communication, including PV systems. These requirements aim to improve network security, protect personal data, and reduce fraud risks. In addition to this, the company claims that its product line is also compliant with the UK’s Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure (PSTI) regulation, which came into force in April 2024.
