US-based Jacobs has been chosen by Terra Solar Philippines Inc., a subsidiary of SP New Energy Corporation (SPNEC), for the MTerra Solar project. This $3.3 billion initiative features a 3.5 GW solar farm and a 4.5 GW BESS system. The project spans 3,000 hectares located 150 km north of Manila. Once operational, it will supply 12% of the Philippines’ energy needs. Jacobs will provide engineering, technical guidance, and construction-phase support. Jacobs will utilize digital construction management tools and drone technology to streamline inspections, monitor progress, and manage field tasks. Jacobs will also oversee supply chain logistics and solar panel installations. According to Jacobs, timely delivery and installation of equipment are its key priorities. The project is backed by MGEN Renewable Energy, Inc. (MGreen), the renewable arm of Meralco PowerGen.
