JA Solar’s Bycium+ cell has achieved a record-breaking open-circuit voltage of 748.6 mV, the highest in the commercial TOPCon PV cell sector. Certified by the German Institute for Solar Energy Research (ISFH), this breakthrough matches passivation levels seen in HJT cells and surpasses the open-circuit voltage of Back Contact cells. According to JA Solar, the achievement highlights advancements in reducing recombination losses and contact resistance, key factors in electrical gain and efficiency improvement. By optimizing passivation structures and metallization processes, JA Solar pushes TOPCon technology closer to its theoretical efficiency limit. This milestone sets a new benchmark for crystalline silicon PV cells, supporting the development of high-performance, cost-effective solar solutions.
