The Union Railways Minister announced that Indian Railways will receive 170 MW of solar energy from Madhya Pradesh. The state has increased its renewable energy capacity from 500 MW in 2012 to approximately 7,000 MW, accounting for 21% of its total energy output, with plans to expand to 20,000 MW by 2030. The Rewa Solar Project, covering 1,590 hectares, reduces 15.7 lakh tons of CO₂ emissions annually and is recognized as a model project. A 600 MW floating solar project is also being developed at Omkareshwar to further expand renewable energy production. The state is supplying renewable energy to other regions and institutions with limited availability.
