Uttar Pradesh has said that the rooftop programme under the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Muft Bijlee Yojana has crossed 1 GW of installed solar capacity as of November 27. The officials added that more than 2.9 lakh households have installed systems supporting bill savings and small income streams.The state administration said that nearly 4,000 acres of land were saved for other developmental work as rooftop deployment expanded. It added that consumers were supported throughINR 2,000 crore (~ $240 million) of central grants andINR 600 crore (~ $72 million) of state grants that reduced overall costs. The state administration observed that vendors increased from 81 to 4,200, which has created nearly 50,000 solar-sector jobs and strengthened regional economic activity.
