The Government of Uttar Pradesh has planned solar power projects worth INR 35,000 crore (~ $4.21 billion ) to reach a total capacity of 22,000 MW by 2027–28. As per additional chief secretary for energy and alternative energy sources, Narendra Bhooshan, the plan includes seven solar energy parks totaling 3,700 MW across the state. The state government has also been assessing the installation of floating solar plants across 37 reservoirs. National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC),Tehri Hydro Development Corporation Limited (THDC), based in Rishikesh and Avaada Group have been identified among the participants. These projects are expected to expand solar generation capacity and contribute to Uttar Pradesh’s long-term energy diversification goals.
