UPNEDA to deploy 8 lakh rooftop solar units across Uttar Pradesh

The Uttar Pradesh government is planning to install 8 lakh solar rooftop systems by March 2027 under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana. For 2024–25, the target was 2.65 lakh units, with a monthly goal of 22,000 installations—averaging 300 per district. Targets were distributed across districts, DISCOMs, municipal corporations, and municipalities. The scheme was monitored through the Chief Minister’s dashboardUttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) led the implementation. By March 2025, 10.73 lakh applications had been received, vendor listing was in progress, and over 1 lakh systems were installed. Approximately 11,000 installations were completed monthly. More than 2,500 vendors were empanelled and 1,800 received training. Training and financial assistance were coordinated with national-level institutions and ministries.
