Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited (TNGECL) has invited bids to install 40 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar systems on government buildings across Tamil Nadu, marking the first large-scale programme for state offices. The tender formed part of a wider 200 MW plan and followed the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) model with tariff-based bidding and net feed-in. Site identification began in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, and Tiruvallur, focusing on offices with higher electricity use and 2,000–10,000 sq ft of rooftop space. Officials cited the PM Surya Ghar deadline for rooftop adoption by December 31, 2025. The tender set a pre-bid meeting on October 8, submissions from October 15–27, and opening on October 28, with required earnest money deposit (EMD) of INR 50 lakh (~$ 55550) and performance guarantee of INR 1 crore (~$ 111101) per MW.
