The Telangana Electricity Regulatory Commission (TGERC) approved a plan by Telangana’s power companies (TGDISCOMs) to buy 200 MW of solar power from NLC India Ltd. (NLCIL). The solar plant will be set up in Kutch, Gujarat, under a central scheme called CPSU Phase-II, Tranche-III, which uses Indian-made solar panels and provides government financial support (VGF). The agreed rate is INR 2.57 (~$0.03) per unit. TGDISCOMs said the power is needed to meet rising demand, follow renewable energy targets, and avoid future shortages. TGERC told them to make sure interstate transmission charges are waived and get final tariff approval from CERC. The power will mainly support Lift Irrigation projects.
