Tata Power Renewable Energy, a Mumbai-based renewable power developer, has planned a greenfield ingot and wafer manufacturing project in Andhra Pradesh. The company has proposed a 10 GW ingot and wafer plant in Nellore with an investment of INR 6,675 crore (~ $ 804 million). According to Tata Power Renewable Energy, the facility has been intended to support domestic solar cell and module supply chains. Andhra Pradesh government has allocated 200 acres at Iffco Kisan Special Economic Zone for the project. The company has earmarked 120 acres for construction and retained land for future expansion. The project was cleared by the State Investment Promotion Board and is awaiting cabinet approval. The facility is expected to generate employment for around 1,000 people. Andhra Pradesh has allotted a site for a captive 200 MW green power plant.
