India based Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd is planning to set up a 10 GW greenfield ingot and wafer manufacturing facility at Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. The project involves an investment of INR 6,675 crore (~ $739.77 million). The project has been cleared by the State Investment Promotion Board. It will be developed at the IFFCO Kisan Special Economic Zone. The site spans about 200 acres including land allocated for phased expansion. The facility will produce ingots and wafers used in solar cells, modules and semiconductor applications. The project aligns with domestic manufacturing objectives. It is expected to generate around 1,000 direct jobs. Additional indirect employment is anticipated during construction and related activities. TPREL will also establish a 200 MW captive renewable power plant. The power plant will supply electricity to the manufacturing facility.
