India based Sunsure Energy has signed long-term solar power purchase agreements totaling 8 MW with Daeseung Autoparts India Private Limited and Ilgahng Automotive, both part of South Korea’s Daeseung Group. Under the agreement, Sunsure will supply around 8 million units of electricity annually to Daeseung’s manufacturing facility in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. The power will be sourced from Sunsure Energy’s 75 MW solar plant in Ilayangudi. The supply is expected to meet nearly 60% of Daeseung’s total electricity demand, supporting its manufacturing operations in India. Separately, Sunsure will also provide approximately 4.7 million units of solar power annually to Ilgahng Automotive’s Kanchipuram facility from the same Ilayangudi solar plant. The agreements are expected to offset about 5,800 metric tonnes of CO2e emissions annually for Daeseung and around 3,400 metric tonnes of CO2e annually for Ilgahng. The partnerships expand Sunsure Energy’s industrial solar supply portfolio in Tamil Nadu’s automotive manufacturing corridor.
