India-headquartered JSL Super Steel, a unit of Jindal Stainless, has signed an agreement with Sunsure Energy to source 11 MW of solar power for its Uttar Pradesh plant. The energy will come from Sunsure’s 49 MW project in Augasi and is expected to replace about 40 percent of the plant's conventional energy use. The plant will receive 16.5 million units of clean energy annually, reducing carbon emissions by 12 million kilograms each year—equivalent to planting 5.45 lakh trees. The move aligned with Jindal Stainless’ short-term target to cut carbon emissions by 50 percent by 2035 and supported its efforts to integrate renewable energy into production processes.
