India's Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RVUNL) has been allotted land by the Government of Rajasthan to develop major renewable energy projects. The state enterprise received approval for solar parks with 26,400 MW capacity in Jaisalmer and an additional 5,200 MW in Bikaner. According to officials, the projects were designed to expand renewable power generation, help meet India’s national energy targets, and create thousands of direct and indirect jobs for local residents. The government stated that the initiative was also intended to strengthen energy security while supporting infrastructure upgrades and economic growth in both districts.
