Protests have intensified in Rajasthan's Sheo region over the alleged illegal felling of Khejri trees for solar power projects. Activists and villagers have accused solar companies of destroying Oran lands, grazing fields, and traditional pathways to clear land for installations. Independent MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati joined the demonstrations and claimed that dried Khejri trees were set on fire while wet trunks were buried underground across a 1.5 km stretch. As per Bhati, authorities failed to intervene despite evidence. Sheo Sub-Divisional Officer Yaksh Chaudhary has confirmed that a probe has been initiated. According to Anil Chhangani of Maharaja Ganga Singh University, over 30 lakh Khejri trees have already been lost, and another 38.54 lakh could be sacrificed to meet the 2030 solar target of 90 GW.
