Rajasthan has added 1.190 GW of decentralized solar capacity in the past year under the PM-KUSUM scheme, bringing the state's total to 1.305 GW across 684 plants. Most of this capacity—997.5 MWwas contributed by the Jodhpur discom, followed by Jaipur and Ajmer. The scheme, now implemented directly by the discoms, promotes small, grid-connected solar plants within 5 km of substations, offering lower-cost electricity at INR 2.09–INR 3 (~ $0.025–$0.036) per unit. Officials addressed procedural issues through dedicated officers, SOPs, and land and loan facilitation. This initiative project supports rural livelihoods and aims to provide daytime electricity for agriculture to all farmers by 2027, with over 1 lakh already benefiting.
