Premier Energies, an India-based solar equipment manufacturer, has outlined a longer-term shift toward exports as global buyers are diversifying their supply chains away from China. Two senior executives said that the company’s current order book is entirely domestic and has been fully booked for the next 12 to 18 months. Managing Director Chiranjeev Singh Saluja has stated that overseas markets will be targeted as new manufacturing capacity is brought online, including a proposed US solar cell plant with partner Heliene. He has added that certain European tenders are excluding Chinese products, reflecting evolving procurement policies. Chief Business Officer Vinay Rustagi has said that silver use in solar cells has fallen about 68% over the past five years and is expected to decline another 30% over the next five years. He added that the company is conducting research to replace silver entirely with copper paste, with initial results expected within 12 to 18 months.
