The National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI), an India-based renewable industry body, has filed Petition No. 60/MP/2026 before the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission in New Delhi. The petition has sought removal of the INR 10/kWh bid ceiling across all power market segments. It has been submitted under Section 66 of the Electricity Act, 2003. The filing has also invoked Regulation 54 of the Power Market Regulations, 2021. NSEFI has stated that the INR 10/kWh cap affects economic viability of Energy Storage Systems. The affected storage technologies include Battery Energy Storage Systems and Pumped Storage Projects. NSEFI has alternatively requested that the bid ceiling be increased to INR 15/kWh. The Commission heard the petition on 18 February 2026 and has fixed 7 May 2026 for further consideration.
