India-headquartered The National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) inaugurated a new PV module testing and calibration lab at its Gwal Pahari campus in Haryana, expanding India’s solar R&D and quality infrastructure. The facility enabled testing, calibration, and certification of photovoltaic technologies, including those without defined standards, and aligned with BIS norms while supporting the PLI scheme. NISE had trained over 55,000 Suryamitra technicians and installed 300 solar air dryers in Leh. India’s solar capacity grew from 2.82 GW in 2014 to over 106 GW, targeting 292 GW by 2030. The institute was working on advanced technologies such as Perovskite and Bifacial panels, and exploring AI-based forecasting, BIPV, and solar EV charging.
