NHPC opened bids for 1.2 GW solar plus storage across India

Haryana-headquartered NHPC Limited invited bids for 1.2 GW solar and 600 MW BESS under Build Own Operate model with 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

India-based NHPC Limited, invited bids for selection of solar power generators under Tranche XI to develop 1.2 GW ISTS-connected solar PV projects with 600 MW/2400 MWh energy storage systems across India. Bidding followed a single-stage, two-envelope process with an e-reverse auction. Projects were to be set up on Build, Own, Operate (BOO) basis with a 25-year PPA. Minimum project size was 50 MW with 25 MW ESS. Projects in North-Eastern states had a lower threshold of 30 MW. Bidders needed to arrange land and approvals. NHPC acted as intermediary procurer. Tender submission closed on April 24, 2025, with technical bid opening on April 29, 2025.
