India-hedaquarteredNational Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has installed a 0.717 MW rooftop solar power plant at Meerut South station under the Delhi-Meerut RRTS Project. The plant included 1304 panels of 550 W each. This aligned with NCRTC’s plan to convert stations, depots, and substations into solar power hubs. Rooftop solar systems were already operational at Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai stations, Duhai Depot, and Ghaziabad and Muradnagar RSS. The Ghaziabad station plant had the highest capacity at 965 kW. Installation at other Namo Bharat stations was ongoing. The Meerut South plant was expected to generate 815,000 units of solar energy yearly and reduce carbon emissions by 750 tons annually.
