The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, a New Delhi-based transport policy authority, has proposed installing solar panels along national highways to test corridor-scale renewable deployment. The ministry said the plan has started with a pilot covering 14.75 kilometres of NH 709B from Akshardham to DLF Ankur Vihar on the Delhi–UP border. National Highways Authority of India has signed an MoU with Solar Energy Corporation of India to coordinate feasibility work, bidding activities and project oversight. According to Solar Energy Corporation of India, the pilot is expected to deliver 7 MW of generation under an 18-month execution period. The pilot has an estimated cost of ₹ 1,479.22 crore under a 25-year operational structure.
