Mizoram,India-based northeastern state government, has inaugurated the 10 MW Thenzawl solar power plant in Serchhip district. According to Lalduhoma, the commissioning has marked progress toward improving Mizoram’s power self-sufficiency. The project was constructed at a cost of ₹ 74.82 crore with financing support from National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development. Construction was begun in October 2023 and was delayed after a wildfire affected scheduled commissioning timelines. The facility was developed in eastern and western zones linked through a central 132 kV substation. As per the state power department, the plant has generated electricity valued at ₹ 3.42 crore since commissioning. Mizoram has also advanced multiple solar park and hydropower proposals to address steadily rising electricity.
