India’s Larsen & Toubro’s Renewables business has secured an EPC order for a 116 MW (AC) solar PV plant with a 241 MWh battery energy storage system in Kajra, Lakhisarai, Bihar. The order is valued between INR 1,000 crore (~ 111.07 million) and INR 2,500 crore (~$ 285.19 million). It is an extension of an earlier phase, increasing the site’s total storage capacity to 495 MWh. This is the largest co-located RE storage project awarded by a state utility in India. The 4-hour BESS is designed for energy time-shifting during peak demand hours. It features liquid cooling for enhanced power density, safety and operational life. The project aligns with India’s policy on co-located storage and supports Bihar’s Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan. L&T had earlier secured a 275 MW solar EPC order in Gujarat.
