The Vidarbha region in Nagpur has emerged as a growing industrial hub. Jupiter International Limited from West Bengal was in talks to set up a solar cell manufacturing facility in Butibori with an investment of INR 15,000 crore (~$ 1.72 billion). The company already has an 800 MW solar cell unit in Himachal Pradesh, including 500 MW mono PERC capacity, and was expected to receive 250 acres from MIDC. Avadaa has started operations, while Waaree was preparing for a groundbreaking ceremony. JSW Group and Reliance Industries were also exploring solar panel facilities in Nagpur. Alongside renewable energy, Vidarbha was attracting aviation and defence investments. Reliance Infrastructure planned Falcon Jet manufacturing with Dassault, while Solar Group proposed UAV production. A defence manufacturer was also considering aINR 12,000 crore (~$13.76 billion) drone unit.
