India Power Corporation Limited, an India-based integrated power utility, has planned a 70 MW solar PV project in Bhutan’s Paro district. The project is being developed in partnership with Green Energy Power Private Limited, a Bhutan-based energy company. The facility will be built at Tenchuka on around 200 acres of south-facing land with high solar potential. As per project details, the site is situated roughly 3.5 km from the Jamjee 220/33 kV substation, supporting planned power evacuation. The solar project forms part of IPCL’s plan to add 1.5 GW of solar capacity in Bhutan over five years. The company has stated that this capacity expansion aligns with Bhutan’s long-term power planning objectives, which target 25 GW of installed capacity by 2034, including 5 GW from solar energy.
