Gujarat-based INVOLT ENERGY, a renewable energy power generation company, has broken ground on its first solar cell manufacturing facility in Gujarat, India. The facility will have an annual production capacity of 1.78 GW. The fully automated plant planned to use AGV and TOPCon technologies and aimed for commercial production by mid-2026. The project aligned with Involt’s strategy to localize high-value components and reduce import dependence under the Make in India initiative. Phase 2 proposed adding 3 GW wafer manufacturing capacity to improve cost-efficiency and supply chain stability. The company had not received PLI support but remained optimistic about future incentives. The facility was expected to generate over 5,000 direct and indirect jobs.
