Kochi, India-headquartered Inkel Limited,a public private partnership(PPP) initiative promoted by the Kerala government, is entering the renewable energy sector. The company has announced a 23.3 MW solar power plant at INKEL Green Industrial Park in Malappuram. The project follows the group captive power model, the first of its kind in Kerala. Around 75 acres of unused land at the park is allocated for the project. DP World, Hi-Lite Mall, and Prestige have shown interest in purchasing the power. The model allows multiple consumers with 26% equity to buy 51% power. Inkel is also planning an INR 256 crore (~$ 29.94 million) hybrid renewable energy park in Palakkad. It includes an 18 MW wind plant at Vadakarapathy and an 18 MW solar plant at Ozhalapathy.
