India has issued over 93 GW of renewable tenders since FY2024, targeting faster national deployment. JMK Research has reported that a 42 GW execution gap persists because PSA signings remain delayed. About 11,400 MW was cancelled due to undersubscription, high tariffs or procurer withdrawals since 2023. Progress has slowed further as transmission readiness, land access and connectivity approvals faced recurring bottlenecks. MNRE has directed REIAs to reassess unsigned LoAs and adopt stronger demand-linked procurement practices. These measures aim to reduce stranded capacity risks and improve commissioning visibility across upcoming tender cycles.
