Government of India has announced that MNRE is preparing an approved list of models and manufacturers (ALMM) for solar inverters, New and Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi said. He added that discussions were ongoing for a Production Linked Incentive scheme for advanced chemistry cells. India has set 2028 as the deadline for achieving domestic solar cell manufacturing. Work is also underway to create a wafers and ingots ecosystem and establish a trajectory for polysilicon production. Joshi said these steps are intended to build a fully integrated solar value chain. India’s non-fossil fuel power generation capacity has reached 250 GW and is targeted to increase to 500 GW by 2030. MNRE is also scheduled to hold further discussions with states on energy storage, transition, and PPAs. A CII-EY report said non-fossil sources must grow fortyfold by 2047.
