India has set an anti-dumping duty of up to $664 per ton on certain solar glass imports from China and Vietnam for five years. This decision came after the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) investigated the dumping of textured toughened solar glass, which is widely used in solar panels. The probe found a sharp rise in low-priced imports from the two countries. The duty, which ranges from $570 to $664 per ton, took effect on December 4, 2024. It followed a request from Borosil Renewables Ltd and was confirmed by the finance ministry. The move is meant to protect local manufacturers and support fair trade as per WTO rules.
