According to Prahlad Joshi, Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy in the Government of India,  has stated that India has acheived 1 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity in 0nly oneyear. The country's production capacity has risen from 2.3 GW in 2014 to a target of 144 GW by 2025, with increased growth during the current year of 2024-2025, during which total module production increased from 63 GW to 144 GW, according to the minister. “Solar cell production, which generates electricity from sunlight, has increased from 1.2 GW in 2014 to 25 GW in March 2025,” said Joshi. The country has been encouraged by the government's schemes such as the PLI, ALoMM, and anti-dumping duty on imports of solar cells and modules.
