The International Solar Alliance (ISA), a Gurugram-based intergovernmental organization jointly established by India and France to promote solar deployment and cost reduction, has expanded its membership to 124 countries. The Eighth ISA Assembly is scheduled to take place from October 27 to 30 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. During the curtain raiser event, India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, headquartered in New Delhi, has stated that the India’s solar power generation capacity has reached 125 GW, making it the world’s third-largest producer. Union Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi said this aligns with the CoP28 goal of tripling global renewable capacity to 11,000 GW by 2030. Joshi further noted that rooftop solar installations under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana have provided systems to over 2 million households nationwide.
