Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) students have designed and built a solar-powered car named Aagneya through Team Agnirath at the Centre for Innovation. The car was developed for the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge 2025, a 3,000 km race from Darwin to Adelaide, held from August 24 to 31. Aagneya featured a carbon fibre body, improved solar efficiency from 19% to 24%, and a reduced battery pack from 5.5 kWh to 3 kWh. It included a machine learning-based strategy module and live telemetry for performance monitoring. The project took over 15,000 hours of student effort. The team received support from sponsors like Game Change Solar, Billion Mobility, Charge Zone, and COEZET. The car was unveiled on July 13, 2025, at the IIT Madras campus.
