The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur is close to finishing its 2 MW solar park covering six acres of land, placing it among a handful of educational institutions in India producing power at such a scale. The project will cut down on monthly electricity bills from about INR 25–30 lakh (~ $30,000–36,000 ) to INR 6 lakh (~ $7,200 ). It is an integral component of the institute's Net Zero Campus program, which also involves rainwater harvesting, treated water recycling, and a shaded kitchen garden under the panels. As part of this, IIM Nagpur is gearing up for a Phase II expansion of INR 250 crore (~ $30 million) with eco-efficient buildings for utilisation in renewable energy. Boasting more than 8,000 trees and a 4-Star GRIHA rating, the campus continues to incorporate sustainability into its educational infrastructure.
