According to an official release, Gujarat Government has crossed 5 lakh rooftop solar installations, delivering an aggregate installed capacity of 1,879 MW under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna. This installation exceeds 11 lakh rooftop systems installed across multiple residential-focused schemes statewide. Gujarat Government has retained the national top position in rooftop solar adoption, supported by simplified regulations, waived network strengthening and banking charges, removal of net metering requirements, and structured per-kilowatt subsidies. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said that Gujarat has already achieved 50% of its targeted 10 lakh residential rooftop installations by March 2027, with residential consumers having availed INR 3,778 crore (~ $416 million) in subsidies, improving affordability and participation. As per the release, Gujarat Government will showcase rooftop solar success stories at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Rajkot in January 2026.
