A study by Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA) has identified 3 GW solar potential, including rooftop, floating, and agro-PV systems. Using multi-criteria modelling, GEDA mapped substations and zones suited for renewable development. Biomass has 200 MW potential for rural use, while wind offers 100 MW site-specific capacity pending validation. The state’s Clean Energy Roadmap 2050, released in July 2023, targets 100% renewable supply and net zero emissions. GEDA focused on power system analysis, grid stability, and network strengthening. Simulations of 2.11 GW solar showed midday oversupply and evening coal dependence. Integration of battery energy storage systems has improved grid balance, reduced curtailment, and enabled effective load shifting to support higher renewable adoption.
