India-based Emmvee, a solar solutions producer, has inaugurated a new solar module manufacturing facility at Sulibele, near Bengaluru International Airport in Karnataka. The plant added 2 GW of module capacity, bringing Emmvee’s total capacity to 6.6 GW in PV modules and 2.5 GW in solar cells. The 4 lakh sq ft facility was designed to support over 500 new roles across engineering and operations. Emmvee’s total workforce has exceeded 2,000. The plant includes advanced automation and multiple levels of quality control. Emmvee had earlier announced a phased investment plan of INR 15,000 crore (~$1.75 billion) in Karnataka. The first phase involved an INR 5,000 crore (~$583.76 million) investment to establish a 5 GW facility and generate 10,000 jobs. The company requested 120 acres in the Bengaluru IT Investment Region, with the state government reviewing the proposal.
