CSIR-National Physical Laboratory(CSIR-NPL), a New Delhi-based national laboratory for measurement science, has inaugurated the National Primary Standard Facility for Solar Cell Calibration and the National Environmental Standard Laboratory at its headquarters during its 80th foundation day event. Dr Jitendra Singh, Science and Technology Minister, said that India has become the fifth country, after the USA, Germany, China and Japan, to establish a national solar cell calibration standard facility. According to CSIR-NPL, the Environmental Standard Laboratory is among the largest globally and has been designed for high-accuracy measurement of environmental parameters. The minister stated that the laboratories will provide calibration and measurement services to government bodies, private entities, and overseas users. He also added that indigenous measurement infrastructure and standardized testing systems have supported the transfer of research outputs from laboratories to commercial and public-sector applications.
