The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), India’s power sector regulator, has approved the adoption of tariffs for large-scale ISTS-connected PV projects implemented by NHPC Limited. The tariff approval covers a total of 1.2 GW of solar capacity combined with 600 MW / 1,200 MWh of ESS. The assets were selected through a tariff-based competitive bidding process conducted under Section 63 of the Electricity Act, 2003. India-based government power utility NHPC acted as the intermediary procurer and conducted international competitive bidding followed by an e-reverse auction in January 2025. Six developers were issued Letters of Award in March 2025 after successful bid evaluation. The discovered tariffs were INR 3.09 per kWh for 730 MW and INR 3.10 per kWh for 470 MW. The approved capacity also includes allocation under a Greenshoe Option. Project commissioning is scheduled within 24 months from execution of the PPA, with completion expected during 2027–28.
