Iberdrola Deutschland partners with Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH

Iberdrola Deutschland has signed a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH, a subsidiary of Salzgitter AG, to supply more than 900 GWh of green electricity annually from 2025 onwards. This green electricity will be utilized to drive forward low-CO2 steel production and industry decarbonization efforts. Additionally, Iberdrola Deutschland is advancing its presence in the German onshore business sector by launching its second large-scale PV project in Saxony-Anhalt, expected to be commissioned in 2025 with an installed capacity of 60 MWp. The collaboration between Iberdrola and Salzgitter aims to expand Salzgitter’s renewable energy supply beyond the 6,500 GWh sourced from the Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm. This partnership supports Salzgitter’s commitment to sustainable production and process chains, particularly through its SALCOS transformation program.
