Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta Group company and India’s leading zinc producer, has commenced integrating renewable energy from Serentica Renewables into its Rajasthan operations. The company has secured Power Delivery Agreements with Serentica for 450 MW of round-the-clock renewable power, starting with a 180 MW solar project, marking a first within Vedanta Group. This initiative aims to significantly boost Hindustan Zinc’s renewable energy share, potentially reducing annual CO2 emissions by about 0.45 million tons. Serentica’s 1,200-acre Bikaner power park plays a pivotal role, ensuring reliable green power and cutting 2.7 million tons of CO2 emissions annually. Hindustan Zinc is committed to decarbonizing its operations, including powering the Pantnagar Metal Plant entirely with green energy, introducing battery electric vehicles in underground mines, and implementing LNG vehicles and EV trucks to slash Scope-3 emissions by 25% by 2030.
