Greenvolt Power dominated the December 2023 Polish capacity auction, securing 1.2 GW for six wholly owned Battery Energy Storage (BESS) projects. This accounts for over 70% of the total BESS capacity awarded and comes with a 17-year capacity payment obligation, the maximum tenure in Poland’s capacity market mechanism. Participating through Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne S.A. (PSE), Poland’s transmission grid operator, Greenvolt’s 1.4 GW total grid-secured capacity makes it the largest BESS portfolio to clear an auction in Poland.
