On January 13, 2025, China-based Grand Sunergy has delivered and installed the first equipment for its 5 GW heterojunction PV module project at the Laizhou Heterojunction Dual-Carbon Industrial Park in Shandong Province. Approved in August 2024, the project has been planned to proceed in three phases: 1.25 GW in the first two phases and 2.5 GW in the third. In 2024, Grand Sunergy has also supplied PV products to two projects in Shandong: a 400 MW offshore PV project in Zhaoyuan by China General Nuclear Power Group and a 600 MW “Salt-PV Complementary” project in Tushan, Laizhou. These efforts align with Shandong’s plan to expand its PV industry beyond RMB 30 billion (~ $4 billion) by 2025, focusing on solar cells with over 25% efficiency.
