Google has acquired a stake in New Green Power (NGP), a Taiwanese solar power firm owned by BlackRock, with the option to buy up to 300 MW of renewable energy. This investment aligns with Google's objective to reduce its carbon emissions and support the build-out of large-scale solar projects in Taiwan. The acquisition will aid NGP in developing its 1GW solar pipeline and assist Taiwan in achieving its renewable energy targets of 20 GW by 2025 and up to 80 GW by 2050. The financial terms of the investment were not disclosed.
