US-based ES Foundry has entered a multi-year, gigawatt-scale contract with an undisclosed solar module manufacturer, aiming to support US solar manufacturing. The South Carolina facility, operational since January 2025, produces crystalline bifacial PERC solar cells to reduce reliance on imports and address supply chain vulnerabilities. This effort aligns with federal incentives for domestic manufacturing, such as ITC benefits tied to local content. Analysts highlight that despite 40 GW of module manufacturing capacity in the US, the industry relies heavily on imported cells. ES Foundry’s initiative is anticipated to strengthen domestic production, contributing to a more stable supply chain while supporting local economic growth and addressing global market risks.
