US-based energyRe has announced a 12-year PPA with Google for a 435 MW (DC) solar project, which energyRe will develop, own, and operate. According to energyRe, the project will generate enough renewable energy and Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) to power over 56,000 homes. The agreement supports Google’s 2030 target to operate on 24/7 carbon-free energy across all grids where it functions. As per energyRe, the deal was facilitated through the LEAP platform, co-developed by US-based Google and US-based LevelTen Energy, to streamline clean energy transactions. US-wide, energyRe’s portfolio includes 1,520 MW (DC) of contracted solar assets and 398 MWh of battery storage assets.
